European Design Festival in Rotterdam

Representatives from fourteen European communications design magazines form the jury at The European Design Awards during ED-Festival, which will take place 28 to 30 May 2010, in Rotterdam.

The event, ED-Festival, takes place in a different European City every year and this year consists of Exhibitions, including “Ideas from Rotterdam” which takes place in City Hall and displays products designed by local studios and an exhibition of the work of KesselsKramer at Vivid Gallery; a Design Conference; Awards Presentation; Design Walks [visiting local design studios]; lectures; workshops and a number of other events.

Rotterdam is using the ED Festival as an opportunity at which to showcase the city and its strong, enduring design culture.

Speakers from fifteen European countries will make presentations at the Conference and, in a case study format, they will discuss the brief and the solutions on a number of significant, high profile design projects. Speakers include such legendary figures as Gert Dumbar (Studio Dumbar) who was responsible for the collateral for the ED Festival itself but more significantly has been responsible for the redesign of Corporate Identities for Dutch Postal and Telecom Services (PTT), the ANWB (Dutch Automobile Association), the Dutch Railways and the Dutch Police.
